Shawn is an organizational turnaround specialist and team builder adept at realigning organizations.  In her work with an organizations’ resources – people and process – she passionately establishes a clear mission/vision for every project, with goals, steps to reach those goals, and measures of success to ensure a return on her client’s public relations investment.

Shawn has sharpened her skills over three decades of practice representing Fortune 500 companies, nonprofits, associations, politicians and philanthropists. She operates on the principle that there is always more than one right answer.  She often seeks three potential solutions, evaluates them before determining the next course of action, and then drives to deliver the best possible outcome.  

Shawn has served in various civic capacities including; Board of Trustees for the Lake Dunmore/Fern Lake Association, Board of Director of The Advocacy Group (TAG), has served as the Vice President of BNI’s Heart of Vermont Chapter.  She currently serves as the Secretary/Treasurer of the Vermont Energy Partnership, is a member of the Norwich University Blue Line Club and assists with their social media efforts. In 2009, she was appointed by Governor Jim Douglas to serve as Vice Chair of the National Governor’s Association Selection Committee for the NGA’s Public-Private Partnership Awards.

Shawn loves a great adventure, planning events, helping others prepare to present themselves in public.  She is an avid cook and loves to be on a boat.  Shawn’s greatest pride and joy are her three grown children William Banfield, Caitlin Banfield and Erin Banfield, and her step-son Dan and step-daughter Megan, and her two grandsons William Banfield and Max McShane. She is married to Michael McShane, retired head coach Norwich University Men's Ice Hockey. Shawn can often be found supporting Mike in his leadership course work and speaking engagements on college and prep-school campuses. When Shawn is not in Montpelier, she spends much time in Portsmouth, NH and Mashpee, MA.
